Oil Painting
Landscape Oil Painting with Nicolas.
Landscape Oil Painting from Paris
Study how to paint a landscape from your studio under the guidance of professional painter Nicolas Sage. You will learn to use a photo-reference as a base for painting, without slavishly copying from it. He will demonstrate value and composition studies in pencil, how to organize your palette, and mix your tones as well as painting with accurate proportions. Students will be given the same photo-reference as the tutor, so everyone can draw and paint along.

What you will do and learn.
The beginning of the session will be spent drawing and understanding the composition and values (light & dark) in the picture. Then you will start painting, focusing in putting in the main elements first and being careful about size and proportions. All along, Nicolas will be providing advice on how to measure your drawing, mix and apply your paint. During the live sessions from your studio to his, he will answer any questions and provide feedback. At the end of the workshop, students will be asked to finish the painting on their own, so they can apply what they learn. Then individual critique and advice will be given when they send their final image via e-mail, focusing on their particular needs and strong points.
Students will leave with a better understanding of composition, values, color and proportions. They will have a sharper idea on how to work from their own photographs and sketches in the future, gathered maybe from trips and vacation, so they can produce a finished picture based on their memories and these tools.
Instruction in English.
