FAQ.
The Artist Immersion Program experience is positive and friendly. Our community of participants and instructors exchange ideas, support learning, and are enthusiastic and passionate about the world. Every program varies and is designed to help you be inspired by and develop your creative / cultural understanding and imagination.
AIP programs are designed to include open and unstructured time. We believe that open and relaxed time is how you can experience the world as a learning environment. We believe in the individual experience, in listening and responding to the world. This requires quiet time to think and respond. We hope participants are able to listen to themselves, draw, write, paint, and make from a place within themselves. If you prefer a trip to be structured at every moment, and are not open to adventure and spontaneity then AIP may not be the right fit for you.
However, we can assist you in creating your own custom trip and can coordinate any level of structure you may be seeking.
Almost everything! We do our best to plan for all aspects of your trip to make it a stress free experience and so you can focus on enjoying yourself. Each AIP program is a bit different depending on the location. We make every effort to include all costs in your fees, so there are no large expenses once on the trip. This allows you to focus on your experience, without worrying about details. We collect fees in US dollars. Flights are not included as participants arrive to locations and sites from various places around the world. All participants are enrolled in international health insurance plans which is included in the price of the trip. You will be sent your health insurance card before the start date of the trip.

All of our trips include the following:
•Trip Managers - There will be dedicated Trip Managers and trusted, knowledgeable tour guides in each destination. Your Trip Managers are there to ensure your safety, your day to day itinerary, and overall experience. They have explored the world and will be bringing their knowledge and expertise in traveling to each and every trip. They are your go-to source for anything and everything you will need on your trip with us!
•Accommodations & Stay - We include accommodations in our package that are unique, boutique-style hotels or private villas. To remind you, all of our accommodations are shared which means you will be paired up with another person or two. We love sharing experiences together and building meaningful relationships and conversations. Private rooms are available for an additional fee.
•Dining & Food - All of our dining is included unless stated otherwise on the trip itinerary. Most trips have all three meals included; breakfast, lunch & dinner while some have just breakfast and dinners. All the meals are curated by our team. That means we work with local restaurants, the villa and local chefs to serve the best food, preferably organic and using traditional ingredients and recipes. We work to ensure the food experience is top-notch and as much of an experience as possible. This is a huge part of the cultural immersion. We work to accommodate dietary restrictions as much as possible.
•Transportation - All transfers to and from the airport are taken care of by AIP We work with trusted transportation companies in each of our destinations to ensure there is someone to pick you up from the airport and drop you off at our accommodation, all the transfers are private. You don't have to worry about anything. You will meet your group at the airport upon arrival at the villa. **We do want to note that flights are not included in the full cost for the trip. This allows you to book a flight from wherever you are located or to arrive early or stay late. You will book your flight on your own, so you can have the best flight for your schedule!
•Space - We have space to make at each location + exhibit work. Each country and city is different, and we love working at each site to best use the space.
•Presentations, Critiques, Exhibitions - We have creative conversation prompts, presentations and critiques + exhibition opportunities to inspire and inform you throughout the program dates.
•Free Time - All of our trips have free time to travel on your own or take time to relax and work independently.
•Who Is This For? - We get asked a lot from different people who is this trip for? The trip is for any and every person looking to travel the world with a creative group and learn new skills and ideas in incredible locations around the world. Our typical age range is early-twenties to late thirties, however we’ve had lifelong learners in their 70’s! We believe this opportunity should be open to all. Many people travel solo, and many bring friends. If you bring friends, or a group we offer a discount rate.
•Add On Packages - We offer add on opportunities on the trip you can take advantage of. This allows you to choose other options. Typically these are other art workshops, spa visits, other city trips, museum visits etc. These opportunities are shared with you several months prior to departure.
•Excursions & Tours - We cover the entrance fees and costs of all Tours & Excursions designed into our trips. We have at least one tour on each program, hand selected in advance to give you a cultural context. We travel to destinations before each trip to ensure we are collaborating with locals on site, and have hands on knowledge we can share with you. We don’t believe in large tours, so have intimate group experiences instead. We like our experiences to be customized and authentic. On day trips we have a small tour, then people can venture independently in groups to spend the day as they wish, in the most authentic way possible.
•Art Immersions/ Courses - Immersion learning are one on one instruction from top professors and professionals in a variety of creative fields. Expect to spend your day participating in engaging workshops, take part in creative assignments all the while discussing, making, thinking and doing. This is a directed opportunity to learn new skills and ideas. You can be a university student, professional or teacher yourself and take a course! You can be totally new to the field as well. AIP believes in opening up learning to a wider audience with intensive sessions where you can deeply learn in a short period of time.
•Creative Residency - Are you independent? Do you have a new or existing project you want to work on? Do you need a couple weeks to focus and move forward in an inspiring place around inspiring people? Then sign up for this opportunity. Let us know what type of project so we can make sure you have the space and set up appropriate for you!
In each of the AIP destinations, we develop symbiotic relationships with local artists, artisans, designers, and local businesses to create a respectful cultural shared experience. This emphasis is truly unique opportunity and a form of travel that is considerate to the local communities.
