Founder & Creative Director, Art Immersions

Catherine Elizabeth Richards is an artist, experience designer, and architecture-trained creative director working between Paris and New York. She is the Founder and Creative Director of Art Immersions, a cultural travel studio creating intimate, high-touch journeys informed by art, architecture, food, sound, and material culture. For over a decade, Art Immersions has designed immersive cultural programs and bespoke experiences across more than five countries.

Trained in architecture, Catherine worked as an architect at OMA New York, and later as an experience and exhibition designer in London, contributing to projects for institutions including the British Museum, the Grand Egyptian Museum, and the Victoria & Albert Museum. This foundation shapes her approach to experience design—research-driven, collaborative, and deeply attentive to how people move through space, story, and sensation.

Alongside her design work, Catherine maintains an active artistic practice. Her work has been exhibited in the U.S. and internationally, including at major art fairs such as Frieze, and through galleries associated with the American avant-garde. Her practice spans sound, sculpture, textiles, wearable objects, and moving image, exploring perception, memory, and consciousness through synesthetic structures and the built environment as a container for ritual and meaning.

Catherine has created commissioned artworks and custom experiential projects for global partners including Marchon Eyewear and 21C Museum Hotels. Her work as an experience designer and creative producer has been supported by federal and foundation grants and has received national recognition, including awards from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for experiential and event-based programming.

In addition to her practice, Catherine teaches spatial experience and strategic design and has held academic positions at The New School, Parsons School of Design, and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Through Art Immersions, she continues to design experiences that invite deeper attention, creative exchange, and meaningful connection to place.
