Study art and design for two weeks in an immersive environment.

Artist Immersion Program 2018 is located in the Chianti region of Tuscany between Florence and Siena. Our villa is an Agriturismo producing wines and olive oil with 290 acres of land and plenty of space to explore. Each property has its own pool with panoramic views in all directions. We are staying in lovingly restored Tuscan farm-houses. Each apartment has its own kitchen and space to sleep and relax. You will be immersed in nature and connected to the landscape.
We are located twenty minutes outside of Florence near Montespertoli, known as ‘La Città del Vino’ or " the city of wine". The area is full of castles and produces some of the best Italian olive oil and wine. This non-touristy region is charming and authentic, the perfect spot to make art and experience real Italian life, cuisine, and culture.
May 11- 24, 2018
[Two weeks of art making with option to travel independently]
Class and Master Class Overview:
Faculty will work directly with the students for one of the work periods each day. The other work period is for independent work with assigned goals. Group critiques are bi-weekly.
Each workday is broken into two long working periods with a lunch/siesta/group critique time in the middle. The first working period starts around 9am and lasts until roughly 12:30pm. The second work period begins around 2:30pm and lasts until 5-7pm depending on the day and evening activities.
We make art four days a week and travel one day each week to important sites and cities around Italy. The middle weekend of our two weeks is available for independent work, travel or relaxation.
Artist Residency Overview:
Artist residents have access to studio space and free time to make art all day. The teachers and artist residents spend meals together and intermingle at the villa. Critiques and creative conversation are abundant. Travel on weekly excursions encouraged.
